Stephanie Kiser MSW, LCSW

Stephanie Kiser

MSW, LCSW

Stephanie has served the community as a licensed clinical social worker and mental health therapist since 2009. She was born and raised in the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia, and after graduating from the University of Virginia and some years in Denver, she made the Tetons her home over twenty years ago. Her only time in the flatlands was to get her Masters in Social Work from the University of Michigan in 2008. Upon her return to Jackson, she worked at the Hirschfield Center for Children for several years as a therapist, child forensic interviewer, and as a child advocate before deciding to branch out into private counseling for people of all ages.

Stephanie chose Jackson as her home largely because of the gorgeous scenery and the beautiful people, but she also recognizes that among all this beauty, people still have struggles. Stephanie loves what she does and believes that it makes a significant impact to the health of individuals and the community as a whole. She has supported clients over the years in exploring life transitions, anxiety and depression, self-esteem, self-awareness, relationship issues, grief and loss, emotional and behavioral issues, divorce, health issues, and larger life questions.

She also has extensive experience working with child and adult survivors of trauma. She has specialized training in trauma work, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Level 1 and Level II trained, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), among other techniques. Stephanie recognizes the deep responsibility in partnering alongside individuals in vulnerable and difficult places, and commits to do all she can to honor this.

Several years ago, Stephanie had the incredible opportunity of being invited into the creation of the Teton Interagency Peer Support (TIPS) team, the local interagency first responder peer support network. Alongside her friend and colleague Elizabeth Cheroutes, Stephanie has loved her role as a mental health support, connection, resource, and steering committee member for the TIPS team, and with many first responders throughout the community. Due to the rapidly increasing interest and growth of all that TIPS has built, the TIPS mental health team has recently expanded in response to this, welcoming six additional providers to help support our first responders in Teton County.

Stephanie is also Internal Family Systems Level 1 trained.

In her free time, Stephanie loves to be outside jogging, cross country skiing, or hiking with her dog Ruby, though she is just as happy to curl up with a good book or hang out with her family and friends.

Kristina

Kristina Owen

PPC

Kristina graduated from Prescott College in Arizona with a Master of Science in Counseling and a specialization in Marriage, Couples, and Families. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Washington in Seattle. As a Provisional Professional Counselor (PPC), she supports clients using a Person-Centered and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approach. She is also training in the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model. IFS is an evidence-based psychotherapy model that helps people heal by accessing and healing their protective and wounded inner parts. She builds on the strengths of the client(s) to maximize functioning and improve relationships. Her work is influenced by James Finley, Dr. Sue Johnson, Carl Jung, Carolyn Myss, and Esther Perel.

She was raised in a rural town south of Seattle and found herself drawn to the ski culture of the Tetons in the Fall of 2008. Before becoming a counselor, she worked in the service industry, the non-profit sector, and finally in sales at a large Chicago-based hedge fund. Many lessons were learned from working in a fast-paced, high-pressure corporate environment. One core lesson was learning that the avenue to inner peace is not via relationships, success, or orderliness, it is something that must come from within. She believes all people can access inner peace and considers it an honor to assist clients in self-discovery and healing. The words of poet David Whyte inspire her work, especially this portion of a poem called, “The Journey” which says,

Sometimes with
the bones of the black
sticks left when the fire
has gone out

Someone has written
Something new
In the ashes of your life.
You are not leaving.
Even as the light fades quickly now,
You are arriving.

She can be found skiing, sledding, or biking with her husband and two daughters in her free time. She also loves to write and read and is attempting to become more like Alice Waters in the kitchen, at ease, while joyfully feeding those she loves.

After moving to Jackson nearly a decade ago, he and his wife have built their life and family in the Tetons, and he feels deeply grateful to serve this community.

In therapy, Jared aims to create a thoughtful, collaborative space where clients can slow down, clarify what matters, and move toward lives that feel more coherent and self-directed. His style is warm, curious, and steady, encouraging clients to explore both their inner world and the practical steps that support meaningful change.

Outside the office, Jared can often be found skiing, trail running, canoeing, or cooking with his wife and two children. He loves exploring the mountains, reading history, and finding small moments of connection in the rhythms of everyday life.
